Sprinkling the comfort and joy this Christmas
12th Dec 2018
As you dash from Christmas party to festive performance, race through your present buying and do a good impression of Usain Bolt as you sprint down to the post office to get everything posted, we bet there’s one thing keeping you going. The thought of spending Christmas with your family. Just you and your loved ones snuggled up in your living room, Miracle on 34th Street on the TV, fire blazing and feeling that contentment of being together wrapped in a haze of comfort and joy. Your lounge really is the cosy hub of your home at Christmas time and we’ve got some quick updates to make it as comfortable and joyous as can be.
1) Glorious garlands. Everyone does the garland over the fireplace trick but for something even more whimsical, trail artificial ivy along your Wall Shelving. Less bulky than a traditional garland, you won’t need to remove your bits and pieces from your shelves to add your decoration. We also love the idea of using the garland to spell out a festive word like jolly, merry, joy or home and hanging this on the wall – pick the word that encapsulates Christmas for you – ideally in 5 letters or less!
2) Cosy cushions. Christmas Eve in festive PJs, hot chocolate in hand and all of the anticipation of the following day in your tummy. Keep everyone warm and your living room looking inviting with a Christmas throw and some cushions. Little updates like this can instantly give your lounge a Christmas look and up the comfort factor too. Stack your usual throws in one of our handy Storage Boxes to keep things streamlined and organised.
3) Sensational scent. When you think of Christmas, it’s as much about the smells as the sights. Bring all of the sensational scents of Christmas to your lounge by making your own pot pourri. Bake orange slices to dry them and then mix with cinnamon sticks, star anise, pine cones, bay leaves and anything else that makes you think of Christmas. You could even add some of our cedar balls which will absorb the scent of any oils you want to add. Place in little bowls to replace your usual candles. And if you don’t have time to make your own, you can buy pot pourri ready-made.
4) Perfect pine. The focal point of your festive lounge will probably be your tree, decorated with love and care. But don’t limit yourself to just one, as mini Christmas trees make wonderful living room decorations. Designate one of the layers of your Chrome Wire Shelving entirely for your mini trees. You can go real (and plant them outside after a few weeks) or place artificial tiny trees on your shelves that you can use year after year.
5) Lovely lights. The final touch to your festive lounge update has to be lighting, something soft that brings just the right amount of festive glow to your holiday season, and there are so many beautiful ways with lights. Try draping your lights horizontally across the ceiling, threading them through your Chrome Wire Shelving or even using them to create your own Christmas card wall by attaching the LED non heat emitting lights in long lines and clipping cards to the string with mini pegs. And that’s it, 5 quick updates and one living room dressed for maximum comfort and joy this festive season!
