Shoe Heaven
2nd May 2018
Time to talk about one of Urbablogg’s favourite things- shoes!
And we know you love your shoes too, with the average man having over 10 pairs stashed away at home and women more than double that. Just think, if we buy 5 pairs at £50 a pair every year from the age of 18, by the time we’re 40 our shoe collection will be worth £5,500! It’s time we started showcasing our gorgeous shoe collections better, and we’ve got 5 tips to make footwear storage a breeze.
- Day shoes, night shoes…
There’s nothing worse than shoes strewn everywhere and not being able to find that one pair you need at the moment you need it. Solve the shoe storage problem with a tiered shoe rack. We love the idea of using each of the six tiers for a different shoe category, like trainers first, then day shoes, night out footwear, flip flops and more! Then pop away in your wardrobe (handily nailing your wardrobe organisation goals too) or if your bedroom storage is minimal, have your collection proudly out on display.
- Step into colour
Colour really matters when it comes to shoes this season, designer Stevie Cape at celebrity favourite luxury shoe brand Terry de Havilland said: “We saw everything from puff-sleeved jackets to bum bags and shell suits walk spring/summer 2018 runways. Dare to wear voluminous shoulders in the evening, and team with skyscraper heels to keep your look balanced. Vibrant pinks, purples and blues will really channel that upbeat retro feeling. Pantone’s Colour of the Year, Ultra Violet, works perfectly.”
- The cowboy boot trend
Far be it from us to encourage you into buying MORE shoes, but if there’s one pair to buy this season, make it a pair of cowboy boots. Stevie Cape said: “Cowboy boots were also huge in SS18 fashion shows, with bold colours and statement prints, like checks and snakeskin, making an appearance. Don your best pair of high-waisted mom jeans and tuck into your boots, completing the look with a tucked-in oversized T-shirt.” Definitely worth a little shoe organisation to make way for a pair of these beautiful boots!
- Walk this way
Of course, at some point you’re going to have guests over bringing yet more shoes into your home. Be prepared with a smaller shoe rack, which is compact enough to be popped in the porch or used as hallway storage, and can hold up to 12 pairs. There might even be enough space to pop a couple of extra pairs of your own on here too!
- Practice your fiercest strut
With the bedroom organisation complete, and enough accessory storage to make arranging even the biggest of shoe collections simple, there’s time for just one more bit of advice from Stevie Cape: “Just remember that attitude is the most important accessory when it comes to nailing the SS18 looks, so you’ll need to walk tall and confident if you want to pull this look off. Wedges with an ankle strap will help you achieve your fiercest strut.”
