The art of organising your wardrobe
Do you ever stand in front of your wardrobe in the morning thinking you have nothing to wear? Or how about wasting precious time searching through drawers and cupboards trying to find something you know is in there somewhere, battling with clothes tumbling around you and making a mess that you will have to spend more time clearing up later?
No matter what space you have in your home, there are many simple clothes storage solutions to help you organise your clothes efficiently and ultimately make your life easier. You may be lucky enough to have a walk-in wardrobe, perhaps you even have room to create one, or maybe you have a very small space to work with? Whether you are working on a permanent project or maybe a temporary storage remedy for guests staying or one that will take you on to your next abode, there’s no shortage of creative and functional storage ideas to resolve the task in hand. So, whatever your situation, we have created this list of bedroom organisation life-hacks to simplify how you store your clothes, and ultimately provide the added space that you crave.
- Separate summer and winter clothes and store the off-season items in storage bags in the attic if you have one, or under the bed
- Use stylish vintage suitcases or chests to store linens, blankets and towels
- Save space with a hanging shoe organiser – simply attach it to your clothes rail
- Stack clothes in drawers vertically rather than horizontally – they will take up less space and it makes it easier to find items of clothing
- Stuff handbags with tissue so they keep their shape and place them on shelves rather than hanging them, that way the handles won’t stretch
- Hang scarves and belts on one accessory hanger
- If you have a cupboard space big enough or box bedroom, why not consider redesigning it into a walk-in wardrobe? make the most of it with Freestanding Shelving Racks and Hanging Rails
- Install shelves to ensure you are making use of all the space available. Store your most used items at eye-level and the less frequently used ones higher up. Get a little stool so you can easily reach the higher items
- If you live in a small flat or micro-apartment, then consider replacing cupboard doors that open out with curtains instead
- Make use of an alcove by adding a Hanging Rail
- Alternatively use a freestanding Clothes Rail in the corner – these are especially good for those in rented accommodation as you can take them with you when you leave. These also work very well in children’s rooms
- One great tip to store duvet covers, is to keep each set in one of the matching pillow cases – this way you can both find the set easily and get it out of the cupboard without a sheet avalanche descending on you!
- Ensure your clothes smell fresh and keep away the insects and dreaded clothes moths by using natural cedar products
- Keep your clothes organised with Clothes Hangers – you can even get coloured ones if they are on show on a Clothes Rail. And make sure those extra special items are kept in Clothes Covers
- And finally, make sure you regularly declutter! Your wardrobe is the thing you add to the most but are unlikely to be taking away at the same time, this means it quickly gets overwhelmed. Make time to go through and get rid of the clothes you no longer wear and either sell them or take them to your local charity shop.
